This Is Our Jam: Bodies Of Water, “Open Rhythms”

“Open Rhythms” plays like a beautifully wistful take on ‘60s and ‘70s pop, with both The Zombies and Fleetwood Mac as possible touchstones. Lilting guitar and saccharine strings are interwoven with lyrics that burst with flower-child naivete. While the imagery never attempts more than pleasant naturalism (“singing out from behind the leaves”), “Open Rhythms” sounds and feels like an elegiacal and celebratory remembrance of halcyon youth.
