This Is Our Jam: Beach House, “Myth”

Seemingly on cue with with the warming weather, Beach House have returned after two years in hibernation. “Myth” is the first single from the Baltimore duo’s highly anticipated fourth album Bloom, and true to form, it’s the same old Beach House we know and love. Victoria Legrand’s voice is as breathy and powerful as ever, while Alex Scally’s guitars maintain the languid, dreamy tones he’s perfected. For a band so consistent in sound and mood, fans are wont to focus on the details, and “Myth” sees Beach House embracing the larger sounds explored in Devotion while maintaining the percolating atmosphere of their first two records. If that doesn’t sound much different than past recordings, well, Beach House plainly realize if it ain’t broke....
