3 St. Patty’s Day Parties That Are Actually Cool

Most years we celebrate good ol' St. Patrick's Day with a green bagel, a glass of green beer, and (duh) a Shamrock shake. Luckily, this time around the holiday falls on a Saturday, which can only mean one thing: you still have Sunday. We're not condoning getting out of control, but there's no reason not to embrace the festive mood and attend a few local celebrations that are not your average corned-beef-and-cabbage banquet. Break out the kelly (or mint) green gear, grab a few of your pals, and take full advantage of an entire Saturday full of folly.

Shop And Sip The Day Away

Come for the retail therapy at The Village at Gulfstream Park, but stay for the party this Saturday. The Martini Bar and The Playwright Irish Pub & Restaurant on the second floor will play host to the first-ever St. Patty's Day celebration. Enjoy their festive menu of specialty drinks (Kiss Me I’m Irish Apple Martini anyone?) and live musical performances — in case you're in the mood to get your jig on.

When: Saturday, March 17, beginning at 2 p.m.
Where: The Village at Gulfstream Park, 501 South Federal Highway (near South East 5th Street).

A Tried And True Traditional St. Patty's

Looking for a St. Patrick's Day fest that doesn't resemble a frat party? Head to The Angler's for traditional Irish fare and custom spirits from mixologist Fabio O’Toole (no, we definitely didn't make that up). The evening's menu includes Onion Soup, Shepard's Pie, and Lamb Stew, which you can enjoy happily on the grounds of one of Miami's beautiful boutique hotels.

When: Saturday, March 17; from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Where: 660 at The Angler’s, 660 Washington Avenue (between 6th and 7th streets); 305-534-9600.

Kiss Me, I Support The AIDS Walk

We're always game to party for a good cause, and this St. Patrick's Day is no exception. Instead of sporting shamrock sunglasses, hang with some of the coolest artists at Miami's Cafeina Wynwood Lounge for the Arte/Amor shindig to support the Florida AIDS Walk. The chic locale will be host to a collection of art on display in their gallery and a silent auction that will take place that evening. Indulge on gourmet sushi (oh, how Irish!) and yummy cocktails all night long. If you wake up feeling less than your best on Sunday, at least you know it was all in the name of a worthy charity.
When: Saturday, March 17; from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m.
Where: Cafeina Wynwood Lounge, 297 NW 23 Street.
