Santigold, Jeff Mangum, Blondes, And Other Rad Shows To Catch This Week

Santigold, January 16 and 17, Music Hall of Williamsburg, $25
It’s been nearly four years since Santi White (aka Santigold,) released her debut album of genre-bending pop, but her follow-up, Master of My Make-Believe, is just around the corner. Santigold’s two night stint at the Music Hall of Williamsburg this week will remind Brooklyn how she went hard in the first place.
Monday and Tuesday, January 16 and 17, 8 p.m., Music Hall of Williamsburg, 66 North 6th Street (between Kent and Wythe avenues); Brooklyn; 718-486-5400.
Jeff Mangum, January 19, 20, and 21, Brooklyn Academy of Music, $35
Jeff Mangum has been playing solo shows again for quite a while, and thankfully it doesn’t look like he’ll ever return to his old reclusive lifestyle. Mangum’s three day run in Brooklyn is a chance for fans to see the Neutral Milk Hotel front man play all the songs you loved so much in high school. Jut try leaving these shows with dry eyes.
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, January 19, 20, and 21, 8 p.m., Brooklyn Academy of Music, 30 Lafayette Avenue (between Ashland Place and St Felix Streeet); Brooklyn; 718-636-4100 x1
Blondes, Juan MacLean (DJ Set), January 21, MOMA, $18
Brooklyn electronic duo Blondes make experimental dance music that already feels like the soundtrack to a psychedelic art installation. This Saturday, that’s exactly what’s happening when Blondes play the Museum of Modern Art in what they’re calling “a night of immersive music, light and sound.” Sounds trippy.
Saturday, January 21, 7 p.m., MOMA, 11 West 53rd Street (between Avenue of the Americas 5th Ave); 212-708-9400.
Up for more? Here are some bonus shows:
Sharon Von Etten plays Mercury Lounge. January 18.
Cults play Webster Hall. January 19.
Caveman play Bowery Ballroom. January 20.
Dirty Projectors DJ the Museum Of Natural History. January 20.
Zeds Dead, Porter Robinson, AraabMUZIK, Bassjackers, and Cadoes play Terminal 5. January 20.
