S Magazine Defies Publishing Woes With New Super-Sized Sexed-Up Issue

Sex sells. And perhaps that's why artsy bi-annual S magazine's monolithic issue No. 9 boasts an ambitious and recession-defying 430 pages—and weighs in at a formidable five pounds! But S isn't your average fashion rag thanks to their erotically charged, high-art take on style. For their current issue, S enlisted creative agency MD70 to guest curate the first 100 pages in which heavy-hitting photographers like Magnus Magnusson, Derek Ketella, Daniel Lindh, and Martin Lidell and illustrators Hiroki Otsuka and Amelie Hegardt put their own unique spin on fashionable smut. Think Amelie Hegardt's cartoon coquettes intricately illustrated in different stages of undress or Magnus Magnusson's opening editorial that's all about Bardot-like bedroom tresses and bare breasts. We can't decide if it's the high page count or the even higher skin quotient that's getting us most excited.
