Lyell-shoes by Christene Barberich
This week, Lyell designer Emma Fletcher unveils her footwear collaboration with fellow designer, Maria Vryzakis. The shoes, handmade in Spain and just two designs strong, embody Fletcher's ongoing romance with all things sumptuously tailored and vintage. A high-heeled Mary Jane in the richest of red and forest green and a sexy T-strap in chocolate brown or deep navy blue are the quintessential cross-breed of old-school comfort, fine craftsmanship, and of-the-moment elegance. "These shoes really look like they're from the forties," says Maria of the vintage-inspired shoes. Fletcher affirms either pair is a perfect complement to any of her fall favorites, in particular the pleated silk Bonnie & Clyde dress or a super-fitted '40s-inspired dress coat in tan or navy. Quantities are limited, so passionate shoe gals will want to make room in their closets now. For spring 2006, admirers can look forward to sweet little-girl sandals cobbled for chic grown-ups.
