Yeasayer, The Vaccines, & More Awesome Shows This Week

1

Yeasayer, Tanlines, Daedelus: Central Park Rumsey Playfield, September 5, $32
Coming off the release of its new R&B-inspired record Fragrant World, the genre-hopping Brooklyners in Yeasayer will be headlining Central Park alongside tropical pop duo Tanlines and longtime electronic producer/Dublab-founder Daedalus. Expect dancing, revelry, and all those other good things that Yeasayer brings wherever it goes.

Wednesday, September 10, 6 p.m., Rumsey Playfield, 69th St at Fifth Ave; No Phone.

Icona Pop, Heartsrevolution (DJ Set), Punches: Santos Party House, September 5, $13
Of all the summer jams we heard over the past few months, Icona Pop’s impossibly catchy, Charli XCX-penned single “I Love It” may have been the most thrilling. By turning a car crash and a breakup into an anthem of empowerment, the Swedish duo brought their synthpop formula to new heights. Live, Aino Jawo, and Caroline Hjelt attack their sets with the same explosive energy.
Wednesday, September 12, 8 p.m.
Santos Party House, 96 Lafayette Street (between Walker and White streets); 212-584-5492.

The Jesus and Mary Chain, Psychic Paramount, The Vandelles: Irving Plaza, September 13 and 14, $45
While The Jesus and Mary Chain may have reunited for some shows back in 2007, seeing the shoegaze legends live is in no way a common experience. Brothers William and Jim Reid bring the noise with as much untamed wattage as they have for the past thirty years, and those ear-melting first chords of “Just Like Honey” are still enough to bring tears to even the most jaded music fan’s eyes.

Thursday and Friday, September 13 and 14, 8 p.m., Irving Plaza, 17 Irving Place (between 15th and 16th streets); 212-777-6800.
