AdHoc.fm, the soon-to-be launched website from former Altered Zones editors Ric Leichtung and Emilie Friedlander, has put together a stellar line-up that includes the darkly warped trance of AraabMUZIK, the industrial new-wave of Light Asylum, and the cavernous soundscapes of Balam Acab. If you’re bringing in the new year in Williamsburg, this is the place to be.

Patti Smith and Her Band, December 31st, The Bowery Ballroom, $60
Punk-poet legend Patti Smith has had something of a resurgence these past few years, appearing everywhere from award ceremony podiums to magazine covers. What's a more reassuring way to bring in the New Year than with one of the best writers and musicians of the last 25 years? Great for everyone, not just kids.

Ted Leo and The Pharmacists, December 31st, Maxwell’s, $30

Leo puts on one of the best shows we’ve ever seen, and on the 31st he’s sure to pull out all the stops. This will likely mean unusual covers and epic sing-a-longs.
