Artist Makes Louis Vuitton Accessories For Haute-Couture Hobos

Boho chic? No. Hobo chic, dummy. We fashion bloggers love to drop references to Derelicte whenever humanly possible (just did!), but artist Hernan Bas' new collaboration with Louis Vuitton goes even further back into homeless history by tapping the boxcar Joes and itinerant travelers of the Great Depression. Starting tomorrow at the Louis Vuitton store in Miami's Aventura Mall, the artist will present an installation filled with bindles (the minimalist luggage created by attaching a handkerchief to a stick preferred by cartoon hobos everywhere) crafted from only the finest LV-branded leathers. While these outsized numbers are not for sale, we do urge Marc Jacobs and his team to consider folding the concept into spring/summer 2013. Not only could a runway-ready lux bindle offer timely commentary on the American economy, our sense of adventure, and the value self-sufficiency, it would give us another chance to reference Derelicte (that's two!)
