It is painful to remember that homophobia — in all its many ugly guises — is something many people experience on a daily basis. But, Manchester artist Paul Harfleet isn't just acknowledging that fact. Or resigning himself to it. He's fighting back — by planting a single pansy in the exact spot of every (recorded) act of homophobia he comes across.
He started this project in 2005 after experiencing three separate incidents on the same day. And so far, he has planted 10,000 pansies in cities all around the world.
