Katy Perry Hits The ’90s Dance Floor With New Song “Walking On Air”

Break out the platforms and gold lamé, y'all, because Katy Perry's bringing back those light-up dance floors. You can ditch that second (or third?) cup of coffee this morning, because "Walking On Air" will cure your Mondaze. The third track, and second single, from Perry's upcoming LP, Prism, is glittery and downright mah-velous, with the performer upping her sound with a '90s-meets-'70s disco vibe, a clear departure from trap-poppy "Dark Horse," and anthemic "Roar." The bouncing keyboards and driving beat bring to mind Jennifer Lopez's "Waiting For Tonight," and in today's pop scene, that's a refreshing thing.

Not every song a pop artist releases has to be laden with meaning; sometimes, the best tracks are those whose intentions are just to get you lifted and dancing. That's exactly what Perry's new single does, and it does it well. Even the most indifferent listeners will have trouble turning it off. Now, if you'll excuse us, we have copious amounts of hairspray to blast.
