Once you've exhausted all the new Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Beyoncé songs that are slowly coming out, we highly suggest adding Ellie Goulding to your playlist. The platinum-haired British songbird is gearing up to rerelease her 2012 LP Halcyon with 10 new tracks, including her latest single "Hearts Without Chains."
The new song holds true to Halcyon's break-up theme, but shows a slightly less electronic side than the usual, electro-pop heavy oeuvre we're used to hearing from Goulding. A simple piano, subtle drum, and swelling synths complement Goulding's light, airy vocals. It's a dark track that's far removed from the uplifting dance sound "Burn" lends to Halcyon Days. But that's all part of a break up though, right? There's a time to wallow in the heaviness, and there's a time to pick up the pieces and celebrate. This track lies somewhere in the middle.
