Yes, we’ve all come into contact with an array of interesting street peddlers in the city. But you’ve never seen a group quite like this! On Saturday, a huge public art performance, The Cries of San Francisco hosted by Southern Exposure, will gather nearly 70 local artists who will be camped out around San Francisco’s Mint Plaza peddling everything from balloons and paper planes to poems and secret-identity consultations. For a full list of the artists-cum-peddlers and the goods they’re hawking, head over here. One artist to keep your eye out for: The uber-talented Maja Ruznic, who will be dressed up as an “Emotional Trash Collector” (and a semi-fashionable one at that!), asking folks to give up some of their emotional baggage in exchange for a $5 portrait drawn on-the-spot by Ruznic (pictured below).
