Jelly beauty and jelly skincare are the latest trends to gain traction on TikTok and Instagram — but they're more than just a phase. Both jelly beauty and skincare are about delicious textures, a fresh look, and prioritising skin health. We've done a deep dive into how to achieve the perfect jelly makeup look, the products you need to incorporate into your everyday skin routine, and answered your burning questions about the trend.

What is jelly beauty?

Jelly beauty originated in South Korea, with K-beauty coining the phrase. It's defined by plump, glowing, bouncy skin, along with jelly-like lips that look good enough to eat. Instead of shying away from shine, it's time to embrace and enhance the sparkle. "If it doesn't look glossy, juicy and a little bit bouncy, it's not part of the conversation. That's why jelly textures are having such a moment, they give you a beautiful wet look without the weight, so skin feels fresh, bouncy and touchable," Elyse Reneau, Head of Global Makeup at Too Faced tells Refinery29 Australia. "Jelly beauty is less about perfection and more about glow, playing with a new texture, and feeling like your freshest, juiciest self."

Try "glass blush" and "jelly lips"

According to Reneau, the two products she believes define the trend are Two Faced's Love Flush Glowing Liquid Blush, $43 and Kissing Jelly Lip Oil Gloss, $38. "Something I've been grabbing for every day without fail has been our brand-new Love Flush Glowing Liquid Blush. It melts into the skin (when in doubt, tap it out), and leaves my skin so flushed I call it glass blush. It's shine that feels as good as it looks," she says. "We have been playing in this jelly world for a few years now, and I would say our Kissing Jelly Lip Oil Gloss gives you that juicy shine and hydration."

What is jelly skincare?

Integrated celebrity facialist April Brodie has certainly seen the rise of jelly skincare and believes this is a beneficial trend that's here to stay. "Jelly textures deliver that sensorial moment — cooling, weightless, and instantly refreshing — while still offering high-performance hydration. It's skincare that feels indulgent but remains incredibly functional."
The trend can actually benefit your skin, as Brodie says jelly formulations are aligned with barrier-first skincare. "They tend to be rich in humectants and water-binding ingredients, which support hydration and skin resilience. What's particularly exciting is how these textures are evolving — you'll now see jelly formulations across creams, serums, masks, and even makeup, with some incredibly sophisticated and beautiful formulations emerging that blur the line between skincare and cosmetics."

Why is jelly skincare going to be a long-term trend?

Brodie says the texture itself may evolve, but the philosophy behind jelly skincare is here to stay. "We're moving towards skincare that prioritises skin health, comfort and sustainability of results — and jelly textures are a natural extension of that shift," she says. "Clients are seeking formulas that deliver results without triggering inflammation or disruption. Jelly textures speak to that balance — they're modern, effective and intuitively aligned with what the skin actually needs.

What jelly skincare products should you add to your routine?

Brodie recommends two products, and both are affordable. The Medicube PDRN Collagen Glow Jelly Serum, $38.00 $36.26, is one of her picks. "[It's] a lightweight water‑jelly serum that blends PDRN (a skin‑revitalising ingredient often used in K‑beauty) with collagen water and niacinamide to deeply hydrate, boost elasticity and leave skin with a dewy, bouncy finish," she says. The other is Beauty of Joeson's Jelloskin Massage Cream, $42 $31.50, which she says melts into skin and provides elasticity, hydration and a luminous finish.
