Next March, a new teen romantic dramedy is coming out with two guys as the romantic leads. This is a pretty big deal considering it's being marketed and released as a mainstream comedy.
Based on the YA novel Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli, Love, Simon tells the story of a teen, played by Nick Robinson, who begins a romantic relationship over emails with another closeted classmate. It's coming from 20th Century Fox, the same studio that produced The Fault in Our Stars, and is directed by Greg Berlanti, who has worked on both Riverdale and The Flash.

Based on the short trailer, it has all the hallmark traits of a John Hughes classic, complete with school carnivals, football games, and high school parties. More importantly, it's a coming-of-age film that looks like it's full of heart and sincerity.
The short preview has some pretty killer Halloween costume ideas in it as well, which is a pretty great bonus.
“There’s this one section of the film where Simon imagines this one boy and imagines them kissing underneath the mistletoe at Christmas,” says Berlanti in an exclusive with Entertainment Weekly. “In every other major studio film, it’s always the guy and the girl. And there was something so powerful about it being just a guy imagining himself with this other guy in a film again that was going to be marketed and sold as a mainstream romantic comedy.”
The Love, Simon cast is full of actors you know and love. You may recognize the protagonist, Simon, from Jurassic World or Everything, Everything. Katherine Langford from 13 Reasons Why, Jorge Lendeborg Jr. from Spider-Man Homecoming, and X-Men: Apocalypse's Alexandra Shipp all appear in the movie as Simon's friends, as well as a some romantic comedy veterans: Jennifer Garner and Josh Duhamel are cast as Simon's parents.
