This year may have been one of the longest years in the history of time, but we were at least fortunate enough to have a killer soundtrack as time slowly crawled by. Artists across every genre put forth some of their most unique work, pairing new sounds with incredible lyrics to create songs that moved us.

Last year was a good one for music — honorable mention to the long-awaited Beyoncé-Jay-Z collaboration Everything Is Love, Janelle Monae’s underrated Dirty Computer, and the meteoric rise of Miss Kacey Musgraves — but 2019 wasn’t anything to play with either. From club bangers to sad girl tunes, this year gave us a complete playlist for any and every mood we could possibly be in.
