We live for the weekend. So, this fall, we're sharing the epic destinations that are filling up our 48 hours of uninterrupted freedom in this new series, Weekend Wanderlust. Get inspired, and then show us your own #Epic48 weekend snaps on Instagram.
Whether it's a new museum exhibit guaranteed to give Instagrammers FOMO or a must-eat breakdown of desserts, there's always something to do in Los Angeles. That's nothing to complain about, but sometimes you just need a break from the hustle and bustle without totally unplugging from the city. So, in search of a weekend that was part getaway and part exploration, we turned to L.A. native Leore Hayon.

The 24-year-old actress and model has been in the City of Angels all her life, so you can bet she knows not only where to go within city limits but the best escapes, too. The spot that tops her list isn't Palm Springs or a trip to wine country in Santa Barbara — it's Joshua Tree in the Mojave Desert.
We teamed up with Secret's Scent Expressions and Destinations Collection to get an exclusive look into how Hayon does the desert. Take a look at her relaxing weekend, and then start packing. This is going to make you want to book a trip out west.

Saturday Morning: Packing Up Essentials Before Hitting The Road
"My general style is laid-back and bohemian, easy and not too complicated. [Fashion-wise] I always try to take my favorite key pieces that I feel the best in and mix them with basics. [As for my beauty routine?] Moisturizer, hairbrush, water, and lip balm."

"I really like the desert. It’s a nice getaway from L.A. and not too far — just two hours away. It’s a cool place and has such a different energy."

"There’s something about being in the desert that makes you feel like you’re in another world. I like my alone time to get out of my head, get in a new space, and go on an adventure."

"I’ve been out here so many times, and it’s always been a different experience. I’ve been here with friends and rented a house; I've been here for a shoot — it’s always a fun little getaway."

Saturday Afternoon: Vintage Shopping On The Highway
"On the way, we stopped by a thrift store. I really like things that are one-of-a-kind — something that feels like it has a little story to it, like it’s been somewhere that I haven’t."

"[These gloves] are just cool. I actually do a little bit of kickboxing, and there’s just something very Marlon Brando about 'em."

Late Saturday Afternoon: Taking A Donut Break
"There’s just so many cool places in Joshua Tree, like The Jelly Donut. These places look like they're straight out of a movie set, but they’re actually working, functional places. It’s kind of surreal."

"There are a lot of boulders and rocks that you can climb up and feel like you’re on top of the world. If you go further in, you can get a bit more active, like go hiking or go to the hot springs, and still see some beautiful, cool things."

"The desert can get really cold in the afternoon and evening. I like to bring a knit sweater that's a bit long, so you can just throw it on and wear it over a dress. It’s an easy piece that goes with everything and is also fashionable and practical at the same time, which I like."

"Tumblr is kinda just a place to put all the things that inspire me and that I love — fashion, film, models, photographers' visions — onto some central platform."

"Girl Habit started because I’m intrigued by girls and their natural beauty [when shot in fashion editorials]. [The compulsion] is like when there are certain people in your life that you’re drawn to — maybe it’s because of something in their eyes or their movement. To me, a photo [represents] the same thing."
