Rad Or Bad: Will You Lash Out With Colored Mascaras?

Let's not beat around the mascara wand—when going for long, luscious lashes, we're all for coating it on in blacker-than-black formulas that really make our peepers pop. But as the bright, neon-accented summer makeup trend officially makes its mark, we can't help wondering if colorfully hued mascaras will be the next fringe benefit to an already vivid season. Case in point: MAC's Flighty collection launched in May with bright blue, green, and purple mascaras; YSL just came out with waterproof turquoise and violet options for their Singulier mascara; L'Oreal's new Double Extend Illuminator mascara offers gold and coppery topcoats; and L.A. Splash's line offers a full range of bright and glittery shades. Sure, we've tried out the dark-yet-tinted mascaras—like plum, deep jade, or navy. They're a simple step up from basic black and subtly emphasize your lashes and eye color. Plus, makeup artists claim that blue shades make eyes look whiter and brighter, and eggplant and green hues are ideal accents for hazel and green eyes. So, is applying a shocking shade to your lashes too '80s fabulous or a subtly daring way amp up your summer style? Will you go for the rainbow connection?
