The First Lady's Greatest Hits: MObama's 10 Best Looks Of 2012

Unless you've been living under a rock, you know that Michelle Obama is pretty darn stylish. And, ideology aside, we can all agree that this was one outstanding year in first-lady fashion. To celebrate, we've taken it upon ourselves to compile MObama's biggest style wins of 2012.
Consider this the sartorial equivalent of a "greatest hits" album — one where you want to listen to every single track. From bright pops of color to forward-thinking silhouettes, the first lady's most rewarding risks are all here. It's so good — you'll want to put this slideshow on repeat.

During last weekend's Kennedy Center Honors gala, MObama was a solid-gold smash in a metallic Michael Kors gown. She snuck this one in just under the wire, but it's still one of our top picks for 2012.

The first lady is an avid Thom Browne fan (we called it!), and she repeated this lace-embellished number for the second presidential debate at Lynn University in October.

Not many gals can pull off an embellished chartreuse sweater set, but the first lady is crushing it in the vibrant hue and wide-leg trousers. It probably doesn't hurt that Samantha Cameron, wife of British Prime Minister David Cameron and fashion maven in her own right, is sporting an equally eye-popping shade.

This adorable checked ASOS dress might be one of our all-time favorite first-lady dresses. Cute and summery, but with an artsy print to keep it up to date, this number sets the bar high for hot-weather dressing.

We're betting that MObama especially looks forward to Mrs. Cameron's visits, since it's more fun to get dressed up with a stylish friend. Here, the first lady looks especially sharp and polished in a pale-blue Zac Posen dress and jacket.

Here it is: The Tracy Reese frock from the DNC — a dress that set off a mass frenzy (and a rushed-to-market, more affordable version). With perfect hair, Pepto pink J.Crew heels and a chic gray mani, the first lady wowed the crowd in North Carolina.

Speaking at a campaign rally at Broward College in Florida, the first lady was the epitome of modern polish in a Jones New York dress and Erickson Beamon pin. We love the updated take on florals and the chic tie-neck silhouette.

Another contender for Best Outfit Ever: This J. Mendel tailored jacket and chiffon skirt, which the first lady wore to Buckingham Palace before the opening ceremony of the Olympics. While we're at it, we should probably go ahead and give her medals for Most Glowing Skin and Best Hair, too.

This Tracy Feith dress is one of our favorites, because it perfectly balances an old-school concept (the floral dress) with new-school details (a pleated neckline, ruching at the waist, and a full skirt). MObama has given this frock a few turns in the spotlight, including a Memorial Day ceremony at Arlington Cemetery.

Even if you're not a major MObama fan, you have to admit that she knows what looks good on her. For President Obama's acceptance speech at the DNC, she donned a kaleidoscopic-print dress by under-the-radar designer Laura Smalls, complete with a bateau neckline that complements her toned arms.
