A Handy Visual Guide To Your Next Heart-Wrenching Breakup

Even if your not-so-significant other totally had it coming, breakups are awful. Often, it's not the loss that hurts; it's the fear and insecurity that comes with being out on your own again.
Well, what we've got right here isn't going to make you feel better the next time you cut ties with a dude or dame. It is, however, great food for thought as you cry into your extra-sized glass of two-buck chuck.

Created by the obviously talented (and possibly obsessed) artist Lee Byron while working with David McCandless on the book,
The Visual Miscellaneum
, these infographics are the best visual representation of the cycle of breakups, hookups, cheating, and dating we've ever seen. Using numbers from the Durex global sex survey, Facebook, the U.S. Census, and other sources, Byron shows us that, for instance, there are roughly three million first dates every day, 58% of everyone in Turkey has had an affair, and 5.4% of Americans — gulp — die unmarried and alone. Byron's visual representation of the information is beautiful, but some of the information itself is not.
