Wheel Done! 4 Bike-Friendly Outfits To Take You To Work & Beyond

Considering the many distinct attributes we love about S.F., we admit that being bike-friendly sits pretty high on the list. Living in a place where bike lanes, shops, events, and even helmet-hair tutorials are abundant, two-wheelin' around town is a bona fide way of everyday life. However, while hopping on and pedaling away to work, one is bound to encounter some sartorial conundrums. Chiefly: How to master a cycle-appropriate outfit for the office that can go straight to the bar.
And while we fawn over those flawless biking beauties in Amsterdam (doing it in sky-high pumps, no less), we know S.F. isn't as terrain-friendly. Trekking from home, to work, and to happy hour through hills—in heels—sounds like a frustrating task (read: wipeout). But, that doesn't mean you have to toss on a played-out pair of sneaks and a lackluster outfit to match. Nope, instead we've constructed four hot ensembles that will take you from 9-to-5 and beyond in a flash. Peep them here, take notes, and ride on!

Think biking in heels is a no go? Guess again! Well, at least in moderately high wedges it seems to be all gravy. We can't speak for six-inchers. A color-soaked, semi-wide leg pant (you don’t want your garment getting stuck in the gears) stylishly accompanies this sleek Linus cycle, plus a cozy knit, in case it gets chilly riding through the wind. The spiked Joomi Lim necklace adds just the right amount of edge that’s appropriate for the office, but is playful enough for drinks with friends after the 9-to-5 grind is over. Oh, and don’t forget the subtle crossbody bag to give you a hands-free — hassle-free — ride over.

The prints-on-prints trend shows so sign of slowing. And we wouldn’t want it to, as we’re still enjoying every minute of this over-the-stop style mantra. So, bearing that in mind, we found an adorable, embellished Equipment top that pairs perfect with this over-the-top-cute polka-dot PUBLIC bike. This buttoned-up shirt is cutesy, not overly girly, and looks just dressy enough when teamed up with a bold, red pant, and sleek shoe. The silver, over-the-shoulder tote and nude flats play down the look slightly. We have a strong inkling that biking in this pop-tastic ‘fit will be a breeze.

Biking in a dress doesn’t have to be disastrous. After all, if your work has a dressier corporate culture and you cycle to the office, there’s really just no avoiding it — unless you lug around a change of clothes. This striped DVF dress with a black blazer and booties are all business, but once you step out and remove the blazer — you’ve got a look that’s all party. If you are going to be two-wheelin’ around on the reg in a dress, a step-through framed bike is a must!

You’re bound to stay pretty warm against the Bay’s brisk weather in this elegant, long-sleeved pantsuit. This (almost) all-black everything ensemble is posh, and definitely great for the 11-hour workday (read: comfy), but it also has enough oomph for anything from happy hour to a nighttime event. Toss this baby on with a pair of not-to-basic onyx flats and colorful accessories and you’re good to go. Ride on, oh stylish one!
