Photographed by Brayden Olson.
It's easy to blame your tools, genetics, or lack of styling prowess for bad hair days, but the problem might actually be your shampoo. Using too much or too little or even the wrong kind could be setting you up for frizz, lank locks, or overly dry or oily strands. But that stops now, because a bunch of innovative new shampoos just hit the market — and there's one for every hair type and budget.
These shampoos don't just clean, but they also protect your hair from environmental damage, balance your scalp, and even help you retain the color you just blew your entire paycheck on.

Oily Hair: Save

Clay is having a big moment in the shampoo world — and L'Oréal's latest offering is one of our favorites. The clay draws out impurities and oil from the scalp (just like it would in a face mask), which helps you go longer between shampoos — at least two days longer, the brand promises. Plus, it won't rob your hair of hydration, which means it's great for those with oily roots and dry ends. (Raises hand.)

Oily Hair: Splurge

Shampoos that leave your oily scalp squeaky clean might feel amazing in the moment, but it's only a temporary fix. In the long run, stripping your scalp that dry could actually cause it to produce more oil — putting you right back in the place you started. This shampoo aims to do the opposite. It cleans, but gently, without fragrances and preservatives.

There are a whopping nine different formulas for different concerns and types, but the Argan oil one could be our favorite for how crazy shiny and soft it makes our locks.

Which, at the end of the day, is probably what you're looking for anyway.
