The Most Uplifting Celebrity Reactions To Trump's Win

In the wake of last night's stunning election results, it's easy to be negative. Hillary Clinton supporters and Donald Trump critics across the U.S. are shocked and upset at Trump's landslide win. That includes the dozens of celebrities who stood #withher.

Droves of A-listers proudly cast their votes for HRC on Tuesday and took to social media to help get out the vote. Now, they're taking to Twitter and Instagram again to express their feelings about Trump's win. Of course, many are simply in disbelief, while others are depressed, disappointed, or angry — just like millions of other Americans. But other celebrities are doing something difficult and brave at this moment — trying their best to stay positive, spread hope, and remain strong in their convictions.

Actors and singers aren't politicians or lawmakers. But the bold, genuine messages pouring out of Hollywood right now are downright inspiring. The uplifting words of everyone from Gabrielle Union and Katy Perry to Kerry Washington and Lady Gaga are so valuable at a time when it's easy to be pessimistic and resigned about the future of our country. So do yourself a favor, and take a cue from these stars on how to handle defeat and move forward from what, for many of us, is a truly devastating turn of events.

"Today we must continue to stand for what we believe in: love, acceptance, equality, fairness and respect for all. We mustn't be divided. We must reach out and hold on to each other... To our friends, families and communities who share our common goals of unity, compassion and faith. I will continue to #spreadlove and fight hate at all costs. This is the beginning of a new chapter for our country, and together we must embrace it so that we can move forward as one. Know your values, keep your head high, stand strong... we're in this together. #radiatelove"

"Well this nail biter is over and half the country is in shock. Some are worried they will be deported. Some fear that they will continue to be gunned down in the streets. Some are worried that this president elect's platform which was based on hatred of the other will now be ratified. Me, I'm determined to be a watch dog. Determined to hold all of these "officials" to task. Bullying can't be allowed. Sexism can't be allowed. Racism can't be allowed. Homophobia can't be tolerated. Become activists. Prepare for the next cycle. If senators and congressmen stay the obstructionist they've become VOTE THEM OUT. This is our country."
