This Unexpected, Rule-Breaking Makeup Look Is HUGE In Hollywood Right Now

Somewhere between the monochromatic look sweeping Hollywood and no-makeup makeup lies a new red-carpet trend that beautifully marries the two. Enter: all-peach everything.

This new take on mono makeup still pays homage to matching your lips, cheeks, and eyes, but in a subtler way, with more attention to texture, and in shades of soft orange-pink. We don't have to tell you that the pastel hue is totally unexpected for fall, but it'll only take a few images to convince even the most conventional among us that rule-breaking beauty is often the most exciting.

Top celeb makeup artist Hung Vanngo is a driving force behind this trend — which you'll see ahead — and is quick to endorse the shade no matter the season. "Peach can be flattering on many skin tones because you have a range, from pale peaches into corals," he tells us. "It can be very chic to keep the makeup in a monochromatic color family, and peach is one of my favorites to work with."

A universally appealing look that's both unexpected and not too far out of the comfort zone? Count us in. Click ahead for more tips from Vanngo, images of the latest celebs in peach, and the products that will help you pull it off with ease.

Gigi Hadid
Obviously, peach makeup isn't entirely groundbreaking — in the spring, that is. To wit: It would be a shame not to call out this look from Miu Miu's spring 2017 show. Hadid and the other models wore the warm shade down the runway with just a touch of mascara and balm. Of course, Hollywood couldn't wait until March...

Try: Pick up this drugstore blush to copy the catwalk look. It's lightweight and can be blended into the apples of cheeks, over creamy contour, to score a similarly defined look. Then, pat the excess on your lips and top with clear gloss.

Katy Perry
"Peach gives you a wide variety of options to work with, depending on your coloring," says Vanngo, who created this look on Perry last week. (Peek a close-up of the shot here.) As we mentioned, he loves keeping it all synced up: "If I do a peachy lip, I will do a peach blush, or do a peach-toned eye and blush, or sometimes all three," he says.

Try: Vanngo plays favorites when it comes to peachy shades, calling
Lancôme's Eyeshadow in A Touch of Coral and CoverGirl's Roses Palette two of his top picks.

Joan Smalls
The easiest way to brighten up a monochromatic look is with a dose of on-trend gloss, like Smalls did in October.

Try: We love this option from Marc Jacobs. It's gorgeous on its own or over a matching liner for more definition.

Kendall Jenner
Vanngo did it again with this look — and the takeaway is clear: Peachy shades, especially when matte, can feel too one-note for some. Jenner's radiant highlighter in the corners of her eyes and down the bridge of her nose delivers just the right amount of balance.

Makeup artist Patrick Ta created this mono-and-matte look on Bosworth last weekend — even matching her dress.

Try: The key to copping Bosworth's look is simple: Keep it shine-free. This lip pencil delivers a ton of matte pigment and stays in place.

Lupita Nyong'o
On the other side of the finish spectrum, we find Nyong'o, who sported similar shades to Bosworth, but in shimmery textures. The look is equally alluring and easy to mimic: Just opt for a metallic effect on your lids and shine on the lips.

Gwyneth Paltrow
"My advice when doing a color like peach is to keep your liner in a warm tone as well, opting for a brown instead of black," Vanngo says. He created this version on Paltrow earlier this week.

The actress looks downright radiant in three-way peach — lips, lids, and cheeks. However, you'll need a palette for a look as intricate as the one Ta created on Mitchell...

Try: With the warm browns needed to ground the eyes, the shimmer needed to amplify them, and, of course, the orange to provide a wash of color, this option checks all the boxes.
