This Magical Bra Can Be Worn 8 Ways, Takes You From Cubicle To Cardio

A bra that can be worn eight ways, goes up to double-D in size, doesn’t have underwire, and is equally suited for both meetings and marathons — that sounds pretty absurd. But the multitasking undergarment, dubbed the Evolution bra, is real, and has drummed up a lot of interest. Canadian company Knix Wear has raised $92,000 on a Kickstarter to make it happen — and the initial goal was $30,000. Plus, there’s still a month left before the crowdfunding deadline.

The reversible bra is tricked out with two sets of straps, bonded construction (aka, no seams), and it’s made from anti-microbial, anti-odor, sweat-quelling material. "The bra, like its construction, is a chameleon: part fashion, part function, part everyday, part sports bra,” Joanna Griffiths, Knix Wear’s founder, told Mashable (her title is “chief Knixpert,” technically).

Looks-wise, form definitely follows function(s): It looks like a mashup of your standard-issue, logo-less sports bra and a basic, lace-free T-shirt bra. Priced at $55, it’s available in sizes 32A to 38DD; it’ll be produced in fall and shipped in December. Once $100,000 gets raised, the bra will be offered in additional cup sizes (E, F, and G), followed by a lightly padded iteration if the campaign hits $150K.

Without wriggling into the thing first-hand, it’s a little hard to believe that one bra can do the trick for an A-cup as well as a DD-cup, and from fitness to more formal situations — with no wire, much less. (Ah, the travails of underwire.) But, Knix Wear has had success crowdfunding skivvies before: Its High-Tech Multi-Tasking Underwear lured in over $60,000 (the goal: $40,000) on Indigogo back in 2013, selling more than 100,000 pairs of the leakproof, odor-free undies. If the brand's magnificent bra follows suit, our undergarmet game will be all set for sweatworking.
