Jon Stewart Brilliantly Slams Donald Trump’s Racist Declarations

In Jon we trust. With just a few weeks left in his tenure as host of The Daily Show (siiiigh), Jon Stewart isn't holding back. Whether he's powerfully addressing the Charleston attack or telling it like it is when it comes to the coverage of marriage equality, the Emmy Award-winning funnyman is going out on top. He proved that again on Thursday night during his scathing, hilarious takedown of Donald Trump's racist remarks during his Republican Presidential campaign announcement — and the defense of his statements by a certain media outlet. (We'll let you guess which one.) Trump, in case you hadn't heard, declared during his Presidential announcement that Mexico was sending drug dealers, killers, and rapists through the Southern border and into America. Though, he added, that some of them, in fact, "may be good people." As Stewart pointed out, Trump's not entirely sure. But he's definitely sure of all the drug-dealing and killing and raping. (Make sure to stay tuned for the insane clip featuring Trump telling CNN's Don Lemon, "Well, somebody's doing the raping." It's unintentional comedy of the depressing variety.) Unsurprisingly, these hurtful, hateful, and entirely baseless remarks got Trump into hot water with his business partners and sponsors. Companies including Univision and Macy's have since cut ties with him. "I am shocked," Stewart said with a pause, adding, "that so many people were okay doing business with Donald Trump up to this point." Now, Stewart isn't exactly mad at Trump for saying something stupid. After all, as he put it, "you don't get mad at a monkey for throwing poop at you at the zoo." Rather, it's the media's "ridiculous, disingenuous defending of the poop-throwing monkey." Stewart was pissed, and rightly so, that a Certain Media Outlet was pretending that Trump was talking about immigration issues, and not, saying in clear, concise words, that most immigrants are drug dealers, killers, and rapists. Stewart put it in the simplest language possible (he even provided a Disney-inspired bouncing ball for them to follow along): "That is what people are upset about." And while Stewart cut through the bullshit and definitively made his case, as he so often does, he was at a loss for words when he revealed that after Trump's infamous remarks he actually went up in the polls. In fact, Trump is currently in second place among the Republican candidates. Maybe it wasn't as eloquent as his previous takedowns, but Stewart really said it all when he could only muster: "Fuck me." Watch the full clip below.
