The man behind Kim Kardashian’s famously contoured visage and some of her most memorable makeup moments (including her recent Marilyn Monroe-esque Vogue Brasil cover and her wedding to Kanye West) is getting some serious heat on social media. Yesterday, Mario Dedivanovic posted an Instagram photo of a little girl in full makeup and the 'gramosphere (is that a thing?) went wild, reports E! News.
The pic, which Dedivanovic captioned, "My future daughter 😩😊 #soCute (this is not my makeup)," has garnered 16.3K likes so far. But many commenters did not approve of seeing such a youngin' with cat-eyes and red lips — whether it was his doing or not.
"Too young. Babies shouldn't look like women," one commenter wrote. "This is sending out the wrong message to little girls," wrote another. "She's beautiful, but she doesn't need makeup. That's too grown. Protect the innocent," wrote a third.
While we completely understand why people are upset, we also don’t think anyone needs makeup. Wearing makeup is a choice, not a necessity, no matter one's age — which is also why when you put makeup on someone who is too young to really make that choice, it strikes up such a debate.
And, like in any debate of this nature, plenty of people stood up for Dedivanovic, too. "People are so judgmental! I've seen little pageant girls with more makeup and hair products than this. There is a time and place for everything. Clearly, it's a photo shoot and this is AMAZING😍," one commenter said.
The image is, in fact, from a photo shoot for Saplings magazine, which often features decked-out tots, though usually not quite as dramatically as this one was. Dedivanovic has not responded to the flood of comments — but leaving the photo up on his feed seems to say enough.
