Why Aren't There Any Black Superheroes?

Sasheer Zamata, the first black female SNL cast member in half a decade, has certainly earned her stripes. The NYC-based actress, writer, and comedienne with a hilarious, tell-it-as-it-is attitude, has been a regular at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre for longer than we can remember. And, in addition to performing stand up across the US of A, you can catch her on MTV's Hey Girl, ABC's Would You Fall For That, and, of course, sasheer.com. This week, we get schooled on the history of superheroes.

For Black History Month, BET sat down with celebs like Black Prowess and Darkness to talk about the tribulations of being a black superhero. For one, nobody thinks you're trying to save their life. No matter what awesome costume you wear, people think you're a fancy looking criminal. Seriously, it's tough out there. Check out the video to see what I mean.
