Since Paul Walker's tragic and untimely death last weekend, several stories have emerged to shed light on the actor's "less glamorous roles" as a devoted dad, passionate humanitarian, and all-around good guy. If you can handle one more bittersweet tale about Walker's generosity, keep reading.
According to Irene King, a former clerk at Bailey Banks and Biddle Jewelers in Santa Barbara, CA, the Fast and the Furious star was in the shop a few years back when he overheard a conversation between a soldier and his girlfriend. When Walker realized the military man didn't have the money for his bride to be's dream ring, Walker reportedly paid $10,000 for it himself but asked to remain anonymous.
"They had come in looking for rings," King recalls, noting that the soldier was about to go overseas soon. "She saw something that she really, really liked but he said, 'Honey, I can't afford that. He called the manager over and said, 'The ring that those people were looking at, put it on my tab.'"
We'd love for this mystery couple to come forward and confirm the story. But, regardless of whether or not the tale is true, there's no denying that Walker was a stand-up guy who will be truly missed. (CBS Los Angeles)
