Meet Mad Men's Genius Costume Designer

Over the course of six seasons, we've managed to stay hooked on Mad Men — thanks in no small part to the incredible costumes that regularly fuel our desire for amazing vintage pieces. The sartorial genius behind our TV addiction? Costume designer Janie Bryant, who has parlayed her stint with AMC into an Emmy award and brand collabs with Banana Republic and Maidenform, just to name a few. So naturally, we're pretty stoked that Bryant is heading to D.C. for a Smithsonian Associates presentation next week, where she'll discuss her inspirations and the impact Mad Men has had on current fashion trends.

Moderated by the National Portrait Gallery's cultural historian, Amy Henderson, the discussion will be bookended by cocktails — Jack Rose Dining Saloon will pour five specialty drinks inspired by Don, Betty, Joan, Roger, and Peggy — and an opportunity to view some of Bryant's original sketches for the series. We think this sounds like the perfect Monday night — what could be better than inspirational design, an addictive TV drama, and sassy cocktails?
When: Monday, September 9, from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
Where: Natural History Museum, Baird Auditorium, 10th Street NW and Constitution Avenue NW; 202-633-3030. Tickets are $50 for non-members; attendees must be 21+. Tickets available here.
