Zynga's Stylish Power Players Give Us A Tour Of Their Extra-Fun Office!

Although the idea of gamers might conjure images of teenage boys glued to their laptops or plasma screens for hours and hours…and hours…on end, it's time to change that notion, thanks to a surge in gaming in both men and women in all age categories over the past few years. Of course, this is in no small part due to S.F.-based gaming empire, Zynga, which is responsible for wildly successful games such as CityVille, FarmVille, and a bunch of other biggies, amounting to over 240 million active users per month, across social platforms such as Facebook, Google+, and more. Naturally, since it's based on the concept of play, we knew Zynga's SoMa HQ wouldn't be a snooze, and boy were we right. From an in-office Blue Bottle Coffee cafe (major jealous pangs!) to an always-free gaming arcade, Zynga's most stylish employees gave us a tour of their crazy-cool offices and a glimpse into what they do on the daily. Start clicking, and let the games begin!

(Jet interview, continued...)
What are your favorite shops in San Francisco or online?
"Clothes Contact, Retro Rags, and Thrift Town in the Mission, where I use my animal instincts and hunt! I love, love, love, Cary Lane in the Hayes Valley, Jeremy's in the Dogpatch, and Picnic on Polk Street. Therapy, Villians, Ambiance, and Wasteland are my usual stomping grounds in the Haight. Downtown, you'll usually find me at Zara."

How would you describe your style?
"Vintage. Bold. Eclectic. Chameleon-esque. My most recent obsessions are Peter Pan-collared shirts buttoned to the top, chunky bib jewelry, pencil skirts below the knee, high-waisted shorts, and acid-washed anything. I define a lot of what I wear through patterns and bold colors, and I mix them together."

What 3 items in your closet get the biggest workout?
"My favorite pieces are my vintage treasures and thrift-store finds. My vintage brushed-suede camel high-waisted Chia leather skirt, black J.Crew cotton V-neck tee, an obnoxious amount of costume jewelry, and my thrift store gem-of-a-find Via Spiga giraffe-patterned pumps get the most workout."

What's your philosophy when it comes to accessorizing?
"I love accessories. Sometimes it's a struggle to find the right set to go with an outfit, but even more frustrating is trying not to overdo it. I usually go for one big memorable piece to be the main focal point. Then I go from there, carefully refraining from matching the accessories or my outfit close together. I always have fun with it because I believe in taking risks. If you feel comfortable, you really can’t go wrong."

What's your go-to tech accessory these days?
"As I'm constantly trying to find new ways to draw Lady Gaga on my iPad when playing Draw Something, I want to dress the bad boy up with a Cornelia Guest Robin Woven iPad Sleeve in ruby red."

What's on the top of your spring-fashion wishlist?
"It's going to sound kind of crazy, but as a graphic designer I'm addicted to patterns. I'm looking out for a pair of crazy, futuristic, techno-printed anything: pants, skirt, jacket, or shorts. The crazier and more colorful it is, the better. It's one of my favorite colors' turn to shine: orange. So I am on the lookout for some timeless, fiery orange pieces. And I'm always looking for vintage dresses and accessories from the '60s. I really do have a soft spot for that era."

Any favorite Zynga merchandise?
"My favorite Zynga swag is the super-cute FarmVille plush toys that came out last holiday season. My favorite animal is the mini-horse with the cute blue-and-white striped scarf, red earmuffs, and matching red boots! Who would've known that our FarmVille animals were so stylish?"

What are some of your favorite places and rooms in Zynga?
"My favorite place at Zynga has to be our Blue Bottle Café. I'm an excessive coffee drinker, so our fabulous baristas enjoy my highly caffeinated company 4-6 times a day."

What is your favorite food in the Zynga kitchen?
"There are so many amazing options to choose from on a daily basis. Zynga keeps us well-fed. I would have to say our excellent thin-crust pizza, served piping-hot and baked in-house daily has to be at the top of my list."

Does your style make you stick out from the pack (especially the boys!) at Zynga?
"I wear what I feel comfortable in and what I like, not necessarily to stand out, but rather to be different. I like being bold without being obnoxious, and straddle the line between eclectic and eyesore."
