Serious shoppers know that the thing that makes or breaks a store (besides lackluster merchandise, of course) is its culture. Is everything behind closed glass? Did you barf when you saw the price of a sock? Do the shopgirls act like you think pants go on your face? An anonymous collection of shoppers ranked areas from the most pleasant to the snottiest based on their stores. New York's 5th Avenue (with stores like Bergdorf Goodman, Lord & Taylor, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Henri Bendel) came out near the bottom at number 26/30. Paris' Avenue des Champs-Elysées came out in the middle, ranking at number 15. The friendliest shops were located on Singapore's Orchard Road, Luxembourg's Avenue de la Liberté, and Istanbul's Bagdat Avenue. What do you think it is that makes a shop's culture so foul?
