Old St. Pat’s World’s Largest Block Party
"Once known specifically as a festival for 'women and men to meet their husbands and wives,' the Old St. Pat’s Block Party (now entering its 30th year) has grown into one of the largest festivals in the city while still maintaining its reputation as a place to meet people. Guests pay a $35 entry fee (which includes five drink tickets) for access to all of the festival's amenities. Between the views of the skyline, nostalgia of being in the shadow of Chicago’s oldest public building, and the warmth of Chicago in the summertime, this is one of the storybook places to meet somebody this summer."
June 27 and 28.
Old St. Pat's World's Largest Block Party, 700 West Adams Street (at Desplaines); 312-648-1021.

Pride & Produce Community Market
"Brand new this summer, Pride & Produce will be the first full-sized farmer’s market in the Lakeview neighborhood. The Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce-sponsored event will run on Saturdays all summer and will periodically host food-truck festivals (the first one is June 21) featuring popular trucks from all over the city. Centrally located on Clark and Belmont, this diverse market is the perfect walking distance for singles from Lakeview, Wrigleyville, and Boystown to browse the selection of fresh foods — and meet new people!"
Saturdays, 8 to 1 p.m., June 7 to October 4. Pride & Produce, 3179 N. Clark (Corner of Clark and Belmont); 773-303-0167.

Sheffield Garden Walk
"Smaller than most street fairs that come to Lincoln Park annually, The Sheffield Garden Walk offers something for everybody. Between the guided garden and architecture tours of the neighborhood to the various food and drink vendors attracted to this festival every year, it’s a guaranteed good time. Known for its wide age range of patrons, affordable entry ($6 before 3 p.m., $10 after), and easy access to bars along Sheffield (which usually have drink and food specials during the festival), meeting somebody special is easy to do!"

Chicago Sport and Social Club
"Chicago Sport and Social Club is a great way to meet new people in the city and stay fit, too. Sign up for teams as an individual or with a group of friends, and play sports ranging from beach volleyball to dodge ball. And, if you're a newbie, Chicago Sport and Social will tell you everything you need to know about each game."

Sunday Dinner Club
"This is a really fun club where sustainable local produce is cooked and served for you in the owner's home. It's a great place to meet someone because the intimate environment is inviting and conducive to chatting. And, as we all know, there is nothing better to forge a connection than the proverbial 'breaking of bread' with someone!"
Sunday Dinner Club, various locations; 773-878-2717.

Mac & Cheese Productions
"Owner Saya Hillman hosts fun networking events called 'minglers,' as well as potlucks — both great ways to meet local people. Minglers are unique because you have to sign up on your own — it's imperative that you know no one there. Hillman wants great Chicagoans to forge new connections and is savvy enough to know that happens best when no one walks in with a friend."
The next mingler takes place on May 9. Mac & Cheese Productions, various locations.

"This is an awesome concept where you can take a class and learn about virtually anything — and for a steal! Putting yourself in a room full of like-minded people where you're all learning something is a great environment to meet someone. A lot of the classes are interactive, so you're sure to meet new friends/matches who have similar interests!"
Dabble, various locations.

"This is a great new musical venue that people are raving about. As a music lover, there is no better place to stir up a little love and emotion than a concert. If you lock eyes with that special someone, you've got an instant dance floor around you to ask him/her to dance — or to show off your moves. Live music and a bar can offer a perfect combination to meet people and find love!"
Constellation, 3111 North Western Avenue (at Clybourn); no phone.

Bucktown Pub
"Bring out your inner-intellectual at one of Bucktown Pub's popular trivia nights. I know many a couple who have met at a trivia night. It's fun, disarming, a team effort, and you have a common goal (which can result in a common bond!)."
Bucktown Pub, 1658 West Cortland Street (at Paulina); 773-394-9898.

Rebuilding Exchange
"Learning a new skill in a classroom setting is always a good place to meet people — remember how easy it was to make friends when we were young and in school? If you are looking to meet a creative, crafty type, try making a workbench or a lamp with like-minded people. And, remember, asking for help is something that always helps in greasing the conversational wheel!"
Rebuilding Exchange, 1740 West Webster Avenue (at Elston); 773-252-2234.

The Chopping Block
"Private cooking parties and wine classes always attract people looking to meet others. You can’t go wrong here because if you meet someone, you will at least know you both enjoy cooking and have something in common already. Great wine tastings, too."
The Chopping Block, multiple locations.

"This shared work space is a great place to meet a unique person who has some serious smarts, creativity, and entrepreneurial skills. It definitely attracts a diverse and smart crowd."
