Dear readers, the time has finally come: There is now virtual reality porn, and some brave souls over at Complex have actually tried it out. Outfitted with an Oculus Rift and headphones, the courageous participants were shown some virtual reality porn. As seen in the video, the clips started with a serene beach scene and then quickly went into the good stuff. The reactions ranged from shocked to embarrassed, and many participants switched from being interested to disgusted, or vice versa. Either way, though, the experience seemed to be as immersive as advertised: "I totally forgot I was at work for a second," remarked one volunteer. About halfway through, one participant asks, "Can you change this so you're a girl?" And, indeed, the porn's point-of-view switches from male to female. This proved to be particularly interesting (read: hilarious) for both the guys and gals, because everyone's so used to seeing POV porn from the male perspective. Being shown and forced to experience the other end appeared to be pretty, um, enlightening: "No, get that out of my face!" cried one person; "Oh, I liked being a guy a lot better," said another. All of this points to one subtle revelation, though: "I'm terrified [this] might eliminate the need for human interaction altogether," as one participant put it. Well, although we may not need to go out and enjoy sex with real people and all the complications they bring — we're pretty sure most of us will still do it. "That is gonna change the game," that tester added. We'll just have to wait and see — probably in 3D.
