When it comes to fashion shows, we're pretty used to the hectic backstage atmosphere. Endless legs everywhere, shimmering makeup powders flying through the air, edgy hairstyles taking shape left and right. But, backstage before the annual TV phenom that is the annual (televised!) Victoria's Secret Fashion Show? Well, that's a whole different ball game. These aren't just models, these are full-blown celebrities, and even the most jaded writer can get a little dizzy with excitement seeing Miranda Kerr (and her abs) up close and personal.
We tried to calm our nerves before chatting with a few Angels and Victoria's Secret execs... and, once we got to talking, we could hardly stop! We grabbed the deets on what makes this show unlike any other in the biz, plus juicy interviews with the heavenly creatures themselves! Hit the slideshow for supermodel beauty tips, what Doutzen Kroes' take on Kate Upton, and true-life stories of the amazing race to slim down post-baby.
Can't get enough? Don't forget to watch the televised version on CBS on December 4.

"What are the beauty secrets you can't live without?
It's always important to curl your eyelashes. When you wake up and look tired, if you just curl your eyelashes and use mascara, it makes such a difference! That's one trick I always use!"
What's the one thing you want to do when the show's over?
"Eat! It's not that I don't eat, but I want to eat french fries. We always have to be bikini ready, and I'm always on a balanced diet, that's just the way I live. I grew up that way! I always try to eat organic, healthy, and fresh. But before the show I take it a little more extreme. I cut out all the sugar and carbs. So I admit, I'm really craving some french fries! But in this moment, my body's probably the healthiest it could get. I eat lots of veggies, I drink green juices, I eat avocados and celery... all those things."
Your son is now 21-months-old, what was it like recovering from pregnancy and getting back to work?
"It was tough! I mean, Adriana is back, and she had her son 7 months ago! It's amazing! We work really hard, we work out a lot. It's a litlte bit of genetics too, my mom came back after pregnancy really fast. But the job helps. It's our job to look this way, so we're given the time to go to the gym. We don't have regular jobs from 9 to 5, so we can never say we don't have time to go to the gym! We have to go."
What do you think about Kate Upton?
"I think she's great! She's very beautiful. She has a beautiful body, and I think it's great that she shows that it's possible... you don't have to be super skinny to be a high fashion model. I love that there is a model with curves like hers in high fashion. I'm really proud of her and of Vogue for using her in spreads!"

What beauty tips have you learned backstage?
"A lot about contouring. I think it makes a huge difference for your bone structure! Also, at night before I go to bed, to keep my skin beautiful, I like to ice my face. It opens your pores. I've been doing that for about three years. On a daily basis I try to wear the least amount of makeup possible just to keep my skin fresh!"
And what about your gorgeous hair?
"I've tried to keep my hair healthy for the longest time. Doing Fashion Week in London, Milan, and Paris, it gets fried! I don't have any specific product, I just try to deep condition as much as I can and on a daily basis I don't touch my hair with any heat. I leave it in a bun, wrapped up, and try to let the moisture get back in."
What do you do to get ready for the show?
"I drink lots of water — running around everywhere you get very dehydrated. It's also very good for your skin — as you can tell I'm very big on skin care! I also do P90X, the ab workout and the legs."
All the models were decked out in these silky pink robes — we even saw one supermodel (who shall remain nameless) get scolded for not wearing hers!

So, what makes the Victoria’s Secret fashion show unique?
“Well, first of all, we’re a retailer. We’re on social media. We have catalogues, a website, we design our own clothes, our own lingerie, we produce it, so we’re totally vertical. Through being able to do that, we are able to express who we are better than anyone. We are able to take what we show on the runway, in the stores to be sold, at our own control without waiting for some other department store to pick up what we do.”
What goes into planning the musical performances for the show?
“Oh boy! That is always the most fun part. There are so many great musicians. I think this year’s talent is the most diverse. If you were to put Bruno [Mars] together with Rihanna and Justin Bieber, nobody would have said those three people would ever perform together. People would think, ‘How can they do that?’ Well, Victoria’s Secret can do that, and you’re gonna love it!"
