D.C.’s Newest Gallery Takes It To (And From) The Street

veracruz2slide
VeraCruz Gallery, the brainchild of The Dunes' Ora Nwabueze and ReadysetDC's Justin Young, opens Friday. Needless to say, we're pretty stoked to check out this new creative haven. Focusing exclusively on interior murals, the gallery will also offer up concerts, parties, film screenings, and a Latin-inspired menu of snacks and sips provided by Mama Chuy. As they see it, openings will be less "wine and cheese" and more "tacos and tequila."
Street art is the unexpected darling of the local art scene, and VeraCruz Gallery hopes to further the love by inviting local and international street artists to take over the walls and create mural masterpieces. First on the list is D.C. creative guru Brandon Hill, and we can't wait to see his Mexican-inspired pieces with a "Mad Men" vibe. Oh, and did we mention the tacos and tequila? Now this is a cross-cultural experience we can fully support.
When: Opening celebration Friday, July 13.
Where: VeraCruz Gallery, 2108 Vermont Avenue NW; no phone.
