While the words "raw materials," "tools," and "excavation" don't usually come to mind when we think of fashion, Vanessa G certainly piqued our interest. The inspiration of her spring '13 collection depicts the relationship between mining and nature — and while we might not have the greenest of thumbs, we never pass up the chance to get our hands dirty with an artfully juxtaposed collection.

That said, we don't mind at all that Vanessa G has done all the work for us. Her newest looks take us on a journey of vivid imagery, which is inspired by the transformation of raw and unpolished materials into precious metals and stones. The U.K.-based designer masterfully balances powerful, bold prints with a kaleidoscope of bright colors inspired by flora, fauna, and exotic insects. Needless to say, this edgy and uniquely contrasting collection isn't for the matchy-matchy at heart.
