Miami Native’s Sustainable Style Hits The Oscar Red Carpet

We hate to brag (over and over and over!) but we just can’t help it. Miami produces some pretty great talent. From our all-star basketball team, to our top chefs, to a designer whose eco-friendly dress was worn at last weekend’s star-studded Oscar affair, we’re confident when we say that our peeps are the crème de la crème. Valentina Delfino, a student at the Miami International University of Art & Design, created a strapless Mermaid-style gown out of cruelty-free "Peace Silk," recycled polyester, a sustainable zipper, and natural mineral dye that won the Red Carpet Green Dress contest. The greatest pay off, though, was getting to see The Artist star Missi Pyle walk the Red Carpet and make waves in Delfino’s curve-hugging, pastel teal design. Who will wear Delfino’s designs next? We can only hope one of our own – hint, hint: J-Lo! (InStyle)
