5 Different Styles, 30 Spot-On Denim Looks

If we had to choose one item of clothing to live in for the rest of our lives, it would be jeans — and the great thing is, we actually could. They’re the perfect foundation for infinite outfits, and in the right ones, we’ve been known to check ourselves out whenever we pass anything remotely reflective. What makes a pair worthy of committing to ’til death do us part? A fit that makes us feel really, really good about what we’re putting in there.

Each pair is built to flatter and forgive in all the right places — no matter your shape or your size — so you and your three best friends could all wear the same style (and kill it). Of course, you wouldn’t want to copy each other’s OOTD, so we’ve curated 30 unique denim looks within five style genres, from edgy to dressy. Gender Bender

Taking cues from menswear is not only infinitely stylish, it's comfortable. There's nothing like tailored button-ups, oversized toppers, and athletic kicks to make our daily armor exceptionally wearable. And jeans — those never-fail wardrobe workhorses — are the sun at the center of our gender-bending style universe. Scroll down to see how to use ’em to anchor a look that’s solid, a little sporty, and so right for right now.
Strong Armed
We may have dreaded gym class back in high school, but we’re feeling the team-sweats look more than ever. Try a gray zip-up worn with skinnies, or make like the anti-jock and button up your denim jacket in a way that says you won't be attending first period.

Strategic Skin
When it comes to showing some skin, there’s no rule saying you have to flaunt the expected areas of the female form. Change things up by getting your vitamin D the dude-approved way: Bare a bit of calf or push up your sleeves to free your forearms.

Borrowed From The Boys
If you've ever stolen borrowed an oversized jacket from a guy, you know how ridiculously comfortable their loose-fitting silhouettes can be. Apply the same idea with a boxy denim jacket and pair it with sneakers and curve-loving jeans. For a more cleaned-up effect, let tailored-fit dark denim, a plaid button-up, and a cropped moto jacket stand in for trousers and a tie.

Lay(er) It On Thick
Take a break from skinnies and see where relaxed layering can take you. Keep the pieces solid and the fabrics varied for a cohesive but interesting final product, and break the proportion “rules” by pairing boxier, oversized pieces with slouchy jeans. Then strike a wide stance for maximum effect.
