When it comes to tough dressing tricks, mixing prints may be way difficult, but the payoff is so huge. Thankfully, we don’t have to worry about how to do it right since we took a much-appreciated styling tip from one of our favorite bloggers, Cupcakes And Cashmere’s Emily Schuman. The style All-Star proves that combining stripes and leopard print—two of our all time favorites—is as easy as can be. Just pick an animal print jacket in a sensible cut, a striped T-shirt that you already have in your closet, and pair it with some seriously chic staples for the ultimate night-on-the-town outfit that will carry you through spring and summer!
Essential #1: Leopard Blazer—Your friends will be out-of-their-skin jealous when they spot you wearing this adorable jacket. It's perfect when topping off a springy floral maxi skirt or a flowing white frock.
Loeffler Randall Leopard Coat, $250, available at Saks Fifth Avenue, 9600 Wilshire Boulevard (at Peck Drive); 310) 275-4211.
Essential #2: Striped Shirt—If you’re anything like us, you have a whole drawer filled with these Breton-striped staples, but why not pick up this revamped spring variation on the nautical classic?
St. James Meridian T-Shirt, $95, available at LaGarconne.com.
Essential #3: Nude heels—These babies will elongate your leg and go with everything you’ll be wearing in this beautifully warm SoCal spring.
Osmondo Heels, $100, available at Aldo, 6801 Hollywood Boulevard (at Cherokee Avenue); 323-465-0100 .
Essential #4: Skinny Cropped Pants—Want an update on your tried-and-true skinnies? Just pick up a pair of high-waisted cropped black pants to rock with concert T-shirts, tunics, and tank tops this spring.
Slim Trolley Trousers, $128, available at Madewell, 10250 Santa Monica Boulevard (at Century Park East); 310- 772-0428.
Essential #5: Glossing Hair Spray—Our whole morning regimen changed when we discovered CupcakesAndCashmere’s incredible Beachy Waves tutorial, and we highly recommend you check it out if you want to nail Emily’s killer tresses. Our one big tip: DO get some Fekkai glossing spray; It really does make such a difference!
Glossing Spray, $21, available at Frederic Fekkai, 8457 Melrose Place (at Alfred Street); 310-777-8700.
