The Hunger Games Hype Has Driven Us To Drink

If you haven't read The Hunger Games, it may seem like the entire world has been delighting in an inside joke for the past few months. Coming down to the last lengthy days before the long-awaited March 23 premiere, the joke's on you if you haven't even cracked the book open yet. But behold, there's something to comfort the Hunger Games outsiders, as well as calm the nerves of the (over-21) fans who are about to burst with anticipation: the Belvedere Hunger Games cocktails.
Appropriately named Effie Unfiltered and Belvedere District 12 (relax, it's HG jargon, guys), these two cocktails may be perfect for a Hunger Games premiere after-party, pre-premiere pre-game, or simply because, TGIF!
Indulge, but don't overdo it — today's Hunger Games hype will soon be hushed by tomorrow's Great Gatsby build-up. Our suggestion is to start reading tonight, once you've fixed yourself a bevi. Here's how:
Belvedere District 12 (pictured)
10 oz Belvedere Pink Grapefruit
15 oz cranberry juice
2.5 oz lemon juice
3.5 oz Aperol
5 oz orange juice
Dash bitters
Dash simple syrup
Mix all the ingredients into a pitcher. Garnish with orange slices and lemons. Serve and enjoy.
Effie Unfiltered
2 oz Belvedere Unfiltered
½ oz Beefeater 24 Dash Vya vermouth
Stir both ingredients with cubed ice and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a grapefruit twist. Sip and savor.
