Red Nose-Proof Your Face
A dry, peeling, painful red nose happens to the best of us during the winter months because unless you're bundled beyond recognition, your nose is inevitably exposed to cold, drying elements. Sadly, it doesn't exactly go with that killer outfit you put together for New Year's Eve. To combat dry, flaky skin, moisture is key and a gentle exfoliation helps too. Directly after exfoliating, apply an emollient moisturizer to prevent dry patches from reappearing.
With a freshly moisturized surface to work with, apply your foundation or tinted moisturizer as usual. Then, apply a second layer to your nose, nostrils, outside corners and upper lip using a dotting motion. Makeup artist Danielle Vincent recommends using a shade with some yellow-undertones to help neutralize the pink/red and apply with a fine concealer brush to get into small corners and around nostrils. Vincent also says to apply a pressed powder with a light-to-medium coverage using a dense sponge. Press the powder into the skin to help your makeup stay put and to provide additional opacity to block out any redness.
