Gosh, it's been a crazy ride in the backstage beauty department this Fashion Week. During the New York shows, we were basically told that makeup is dead and totally passé. Then, the London collections began over the weekend with a proverbial spank in the rear end: Graffiti painted on faces! Lacquered red lips! Faux freckles! Ombré eyeliner! We may have just entered makeup heaven.

But, according to Fashion Weeks past, London is typically the explosion of energy after the more commercial, play-it-safe New York. Milan will be where the dust settles (with Italian flair and lots of fur), and Paris will be where it all comes together, neatly tied in a couture bow.

What's notable about London is not necessarily the wild and outrageous makeup is (fun as it may be) — it's more about what's evolving there. And, one of those things, it seems, is sweat.

Yes, you read that correctly. Sweat is the beauty look bound to conquer next season — and doesn't it make sense, really? Who hasn't purchased a pair of Stan Smiths, lusted after something on Net-a-Sporter, or worn some fresh-from-the-box Nikes with a dress or skirt, claiming that it was "for fashion" and not because you didn't feel like changing into your heels once you got to the office? More importantly, who isn't guilty of showing up to brunch 15 minutes late because of a SoulCycle class, claiming your hair was wet because you "just got out of the shower"? It's the evolution of the athletic trend that's taken fashion by storm.

Just like the sexily mussed bedhead before it, is the sweaty face and hair trend also destined to become the hallmark of the effortlessly chic and sensual lady? Well, if the fashion and beauty gods have anything to say about it, then yes. Click through to see the designers and hair and makeup pros who are leading the perspired pack.
