In this world, fashion is no longer just about what you see; chic today requires that buyers stay informed about the origins of their purchases. As we hit the shops, we now have to ask some important questions — "Am I discouraging animal welfare?" "Is my cotton T-shirt made in an environmentally friendly way?" "Is the leather naturally dyed?" — and make conscious decisions about the clothes we choose to wear. But, add to these queries the fact that the U.K. throws 350,000 tonnes of clothes into a landfill every year, and friendly fashion starts to feel a little overwhelming.
Luckily, plenty of brands out there are just as conscience-driven as they are cool. So, we’ve rounded up some of the best — and we promise there’s not a hemp waistcoat or patchwork jumper in sight.
