A Visit From the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan—This novel is a collection of stories about different characters all linked together under several classic themes. The book begins with Sasha, a kleptomaniac living in New York—and if I were crazy klepto Sasha, these would be the first things I would lay my sticky fingers on.
Warehouse Bold Stripe Tie Top, $52, available at Warehouse.

Girl in Translation by Jean Kwok—Think of it as Girl, Interrupted meets Lost in Translation. Girl in Translation is about a young Chinese immigrant and her coming of age in Brooklyn. Kimberly attempts to balance a new language, culture, and surroundings with the familiarity of her old, and lets just say that by the end of the book, you'll be a quivering mess of Kleenex. How about a new waterproof mascara for you, too?
Urban Decay Cannonball, $20, available at Urban Decay.

The Help by Kathryn Stockett—Soon to be a major motion picture starring Emma Stone, this novel has a powerful message about the Civil Rights movement in the South. The protagonist, Eugenia, is a recent college grad looking to hone her craft as a writer. In a distrustful, toxic environment, Eugenia navigates her post-grad life with a courage and vision that really resonates with us.
Modcloth Canary Islands Dress, $94.99, available at ModCloth.

Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen—Some say the book is often better than the movie, and since we quite liked the movie, chances are we’re going to love the book. We enjoy time-travel for romantic purposes, and get super inspired by some of the vintagey pieces Reese donned in the movie, like these.
Lover '50s Ink Suit, $264, available at Bona Drag.
