Rihanna's Stylists Give You Their Top 10 Spring Must-Buys (& Style Tips!)

Well, here we are in the eye of a sartorial storm—flanked by New York Fashion Week and the final curtain call for the 2012 award season. The turn of the season is nigh, and we find ourselves pining for that freshly frocked moment that will make us feel new again, after all the madness. For that spring style update, we enlisted the help of A-list celebrity stylists (and besties!) Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn.
The L.A.-based fashion dream team hydroplaned into fame after styling Rihanna’s music vid for her smash hit “Umbrella” back in ’07. You may have heard of it. Since then, the inseparable twosome have been the red-carpet ringleaders behind all of the gorgeously glam gowns donned by clients like RiRi, Jennifer Lopez, and Rachel McAdams. These friends with fashion benefits are the industry’s new It couple, and we’re determined to be the third wheel! So, for starters, what do you say we get sprung on Rob and Mariel’s top picks for spring?

Where did you two meet?
"We met at MTV and bonded over jewelry. We were there at the height of TRL – it was a really fun job."

What are people surprised to find out about you two?
Rob: “People always think we’re brother and sister. They’re always surprised when we tell them we’re not.”

Who influences your personal style?
Mariel: “My grandmother influences my personal style, as well as our clients. When creating images, I find the bits and pieces that apply to my own personal style.”

Rob: “My personal style is pretty classic and clean. My best friend from college, Michael Williams, writes A Continuous Lean, and is a great source of inspiration for men’s fashion. I read his blog every day.”

On Rihanna’s Style Evolution:
“We adore Rihanna! The best thing about working with her is she has the trust and courage to push the envelope, and try new things. As she grew musically, it allowed us to elaborate her many styles.”

How do you survive awards season?
“Great assistants, an amazing tailor, and lots of strong coffee.”

Where do you love to shop in L.A.?
"Barneys, Saks, Opening Ceremony, Maxfield, Curve, Kiki de Montparnasse. We also adore vintage. The Way We Wore, Decades, Hotel DeVille for sunglasses, Platt Boutique for vintage jewelry. We shop ‘em all!"
