Rebecca Taylor Designs Our Dream Wardrobe—& Gives Us A Jacket Obsession

One of the sappy (but true!) things we've learned from doing the NYFW rounds is that each designer's collection is truly special in its own way. But, that doesn't mean we find ourselves lusting after everything we see — a ball gown or a leather bustier just doesn't lend itself to our wardrobes. Rebecca Taylor's fall ' 13 show was a different story — every piece was more wearable than the next, but with just the right amount of edge. Think: a chunky sweater with an unexpected zipper, trousers in all the best fall shades (taupe! camel! oxblood!), and beautifully printed blouses.
And then there were the coats. We could write an entire essay on these edgy toppers (in fact, we just might). Those zippers resurfaced along with other standout hardware, complimenting quilted leather, fur collars, and the coziest shearling we ever did see. Blazers are back in a big way, lending their silhouettes to all the outerwear, and even the occasional biker vest — in a stunning cobalt blue.
While the show certainly didn't bring the drama of the Jason Wus or Alex Wangs of the world, sometimes all we want is reliability...and the promise of a fall that's so perfectly tailored.
