Now that normcore is, well, the norm, it's tempting to ditch our sky-high platforms and sharp-shouldered jackets and just live in sneaks and mom jeans day in and day out. And, as winter approaches, the allure of these cozy, security-blanket-type clothes only grows. The one obstacle: being an adult, and all of its sartorial demands. From work and happy hours to dates and other social or professional outings, sweatshirts and socks with sandals won't fly — at least most of the time (or, unless you work at R29).

But, it turns out that dressing like a grown-up — even a fashionable grown-up — doesn't have to be painful. In fact, it can feel just as good as wearing your favorite hoodie. Just ask Jessica Sweatt — the Nashville-based style blogger behind Here & Now who has figured out how to transition her laid-back style into adult life. In fact, it's a big reason she started blogging in the first place. "After college, I became intrigued by how 'grown up' people were supposed to dress," she says. "That's when I began my own personal style journey online three years ago." And, with a day job that involves waking up early in the morning and schooling 12-year-olds (Sweatt's a math teacher), she's definitely had to master comfortable, no-nonsense style with professional poise.

So, we asked Sweatt to give us her top 10 throw-on-and-go items that every girl needs in her grown-up closet. Her picks, all from Nordstrom Rack, and how to wear them, ahead.

    The Slim Jogging Pant
"My personal motto: cozy but cute," says Sweatt. Think sweatshirts, leisure pants, and baseball caps in luxe fabrics that you would never exercise in. We love these jacquard joggers, worn with a cropped shirt and black pumps for a total date-worthy look.

    The Grunge-To-Glam Plaid Shirt
'90s-loving girls, rejoice: You can wear flannel everywhere. "For work, I'll wear a plaid top under a sheath dress with heels," says Sweatt.

    The Matchstick Jean
"My relaxed dressing strategy definitely involves jeans," says Sweatt, who likes to balance out her oversized knits and blanket coats with slimmer styles. Fortunately, this season's straight, matchstick silhouette gives you plenty of room to breathe. The result: a hybrid between your sassy skinnies and your looser boyfriend styles. In other words, the best of both worlds.

    The Grab-&-Go Sweater Dress
"I'm embracing the dramatically oversized sweater trend," says Sweatt. And, we can't think of a better — or comfier — way to do it than with the sweater dress, the ne plus ultra of lazy-girl style. Wear it over tights with boots, under an on-trend sleeveless blazer, or with bare legs and high-tops for literal grab-and-go ease.

    The Brown Knee-Skimmer
"This fall, I have my eye out for an upgraded pair of brown riding boots," says Sweatt. We recommend updating these no-fail, classic clodhoppers by wearing them with a wool midi-skirt and a cheeky sweater.
