Back in 2008, Karen Lininger, then a sophomore at Penn State, was introduced to a fellow student named Kevin Lehmann through their respective roommates (who were also dating).
"I was attracted to him right away, because he immediately seemed more responsible and respectable than the standard fratty dudes I met in college," recalls Karen, who is now a content strategist here at Refinery29 in New York. "Plus, he was super cute. I was into the whole lumberjack thing before it was a thing. So, I decided, I will date him, and the rest is history."
"Karen was the most beautiful and fun person I had ever met," adds Kevin. "I thought I didn’t want to be in a relationship in college, and she changed that."
Five years later, while apple-picking at an upstate New York orchard, Kevin proposed. "She said yes before my knee physically touched the ground," he says. The couple tied the knot in Radnor, Pennsylvania, on March 14, 2015, surrounded by 150 friends and family members.
