Bars like Fig & Olive in L.A., Krescendo in Brooklyn, and Levant in Portland, O.R., are changing the face of cocktails for many reasons. The smooth consistency of olive oil creates a drink with a rich and luxe texture. Plus, swapping in olive oil for those other sugary ingredients will leave you much less likely to wake up with a hangover the morning after.
Now, this doesn’t mean you should start chasing your shots with a tall glass of EVOO. We’ve chased down the recipe for Fig & Olive’s The Extra Virgin. Inspired by the small town of Mougins in the South of France, which is known for having the “cuisine of the sun,” the cocktail can't exactly transport you to the French Riviera, but it does come pretty close. Read on, and make it a double.
